Cluster Members recognised for supporting Penal Reform International reports

Members of the Crime, Punishment and Rights Research Cluster and a post-graduate student on the LLM in Criminology, Criminal Justice and Human Rights were recently recognised for their contribution to two major reports by the leading international NGO, Penal Reform International.

Adjunct Professor Professor Marie Claire Van Hout was recognised for her contribution to PRI’s flagship publication - Global Prison Trends 2026. Juli Düregger, a post-graduate student, who availed of the research assistant opportunity offered as part of the LLM in Criminology, Criminal Justice and Human Rights, was recognised for her contribution to the researching and drafting of this annual report.

Cluster lead, Dr. Róisín Mulgrew was recognised for her contribution to a high-level workshop on prison labour in February 2026 and her review of a draft of 2026 ‘Prison Work: A guide to regulated and rehabilitative based approaches informed by lived experience’ Report.
