Italian Online (Diploma)

Visit the University's Courses Page for information on how to apply, entry requirements, career options and assessment.

The Diploma in Italian Online is open to everybody. There is a Diploma Online: Beginners Level and a Diploma Online: Intermediate Level, both with a duration of two years.

  • The Beginners Level is for those who have no previous knowledge of the language.   By the end of Year 2, students would be expected to have reached a A2 level under the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
  • The Intermediate Level is for those who have already acquired an A2 level in Italian.  By the end of Year 2, students would be expected to have reached a B2 level under the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

For whom is the Online Diploma designed?

Both Diplomas are particularly suited to those who need flexibility in their time and mode of study and/or live away from Galway. Workload will amount to approximately 4/5 hours per week. Basic computer skills are sufficient: ability to download and upload files, record and play sound files, navigate websites, use emails and Skype-style applications. An introductory on-campus session at the beginning of the course will explain in very simple terms how to use these applications and will take you through all steps necessary to become familiar with our intuitive tools.
