University of Galway achieves a world rank of 68th out of 767 Institutions in the Times Higher Education World Impact Rankings This ranking is based on how each university is contributing to the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In addition, University of Galway achieved a rank of 10th in the world for the SDG14: Life Below Water.

University of Galway maintained its global top 50 rank in the 6th edition of the Times Higher Education (THE) World IMPACT Rankings 2024, with a global rank of 47 (no. 1 in Ireland) out of a total of 1,705 institutions from 125 countries across the World. It also maintained its top 50 global rankings in five SDGs.
