Between 11-18 June, a team from the Irish Centre for Human Rights participated in the oral rounds of the International Criminal Court Moot Competition, hosted by Leiden University in The Hague, Netherlands. The competition involved arguing complex points of law relating to issues of jurisdiction, Gender Apartheid, and offences against the administration of justice.

The three oral speakers, Ben Ryan, Sarah Brown and Radoslaw Berent, displayed outstanding advocacy skills, and were brilliantly assisted by Research Assistants, Emma Roquel and Sonia Artesani. Prior to the oral rounds, the team submitted written memorials on behalf of each party to the case: the Prosecution, Victims, and the Defence.

The team were led by their coaches, Dr. Paul Bradfield and Ramez Al-Hayek.

Mooting and advocacy skills is a key part of the Irish Centre for Human Rights' skill-based education offerings, with teams having also entered the Jessup and Irish Red Cross Corn Adomnáin mooting competitions this past year.
