Speaker Bio: Mark Rainey is an interdisciplinary scholar and human geographer at University of Galway.  He has served as a researcher on the Horizon Europe IN SITU project that explored the role of the creative and cultural industries in non-urban areas of Europe. He is a founding member of UrbanLab Galway and is editor of the Refugee Research Online website. Mark has worked in the cultural and refugee justice sectors in the UK and Australia. He has a PhD in Cultural Studies from Goldsmiths, University of London and has published on the topics of political geography, cultural theory, borders and migration. Most recently he has taken up an interest in the geographies of local development and creativity. His book ‘Restless Justice: Asylum, Homelessness and Volunteering’ published with Manchester University Press is now out.
