Stephen is a Professor at University of Strathclyde and Director of the Hyperspectral Imaging (HSI) Centre which he founded in 2010. He has over 200 research publications and is a Fellow of the IET and Senior Member of the IEEE. Stephen is a Visiting Professor at the University of Dubai Space Centre Laboratory.
He combines his Scientific interest with a passion for improving the student experience as Co Director of the Vertically Integrated Project Program for Sustainable Development (VIP4SD).
The Strathclyde VIP4SD Program is part of the Wider International VIP Consortium of 45 Universities across 6 continents. It was the first VIP program outside of the USA and the first to operate beyond Engineering with projects in Arts and Humanities, Entrepreneurship and Education. VIP4SD was awarded the International Green Gown award for Student Engagement in a large institution in 2020.
