The International Association for Health Professions Education (AMEE) ASPIRE to Excellence Award in Medical Education (Simulation), awarded to the ICAPSS in 2022, is international recognition of excellence in medical education.

Unlike an accreditation, which primarily provides assurance that an organisation meets defined standards, an ASPIRE award recognises exceptional practice and leadership in medical education. In the ICAPSS’s case, the award specifically recognises excellence in simulation-based education.

This is important because it places the ICAPSS not simply among centres that provide simulation, but among organisations whose approach to simulation has been judged by an international body to represent excellence in medical education.

Our excellence stems from our knowledgeable and trained staff and our commitment to improving patient safety and the quality of care. Our staff hold qualifications in Healthcare Simulation and Patient Safety, Quality Improvement, Leadership, Business Administration, Psychology, Clinical Education, Education, Surgery and Evidence-Based Research.
