Pre-Sessional English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Programme
The English Language Centre is committed to providing our international students the opportunity to develop their English language and academic skills towards reaching their fullest potential as university students. We recognise that the language and skills required for academic study can be challenging and we support you as you build and develop these skills throughout your studies. We provide Pre-Sessional English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Courses to help students prepare for academic study as well as In-Sessional English for Academic Purposes (EAP) workshops throughout your studies with us.
The Pre-Sessional English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Programmes and the Pre-Masters English Language Pathway are for students who hold a conditional or unconditional offer to a programme at University of Galway. We offer a range of courses to suit the varying levels of our students.

Pre-Sessional EAP Programme Overview
- Develop proficiency in the core linguistic areas (Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking)
- Academic skills development (research methodologies, academic writing, critical thinking, presentation skills).
- Build discipline-related knowledge through academic text analysis and reading
- One-one-feedback sessions and coaching to assist students with a successful transition to your chosen programme.
- Orientation to Irish culture and student life at University of Galway
Progression Requirements
Successful completion of all course modules with a minimum average exit grade of 70% with no module score lower than 65%

Accommodation
Course participants have the option of staying in our recently built on campus residences Goldcrest Village and Dunlin Village for the duration of their programme which can be booked directly with the English Language Centre.
