About the Graduate Outcomes Survey
Each year we survey recent graduates of the university on behalf of the HEA (Higher Education Authority).
This mandatory survey [of 2023 graduates] will take place in Spring/Summer 2024 and is a snapshot of their situation on the 31st March 2024. An overview of results will be available via the links below later in the year.
The Graduate Outcomes Survey explores what graduates like you are doing shortly after you complete your degree or postgraduate programme.
As well as feeding into a national survey, the results help current students see the possibilities with their degree and helps with accreditation of courses as well as giving insight into the labour market for graduates today.
You can read more about the survey at HEA Graduate Outcomes Survey.
See the results of recent surveys in the HEA's interactive dashboard.
Thank you to everyone who took part in the most recent survey which was for those who graduated in 2022.
In spring/summer 2023, we surveyed 5,421 graduates.
Over 2,800 replied, 95.5% of whom were working or studying.
If you are interested in results from previous years see What do Graduates do?
We share this survey data that we collect from you with the Higher Education Authority (HEA) so they can perform their statutory functions under the Higher Education Authority Act, 1971.
The HEA uses this data for fact-based statistical analysis to help understand the real needs that higher education should meet, to promote equality of opportunity in higher education and to assist the government in developing future higher education policies and investment. The HEA use student records to produce anonymised aggregate data in annual statistical publications.
Is this survey compliant with GDPR? Yes.
The results of this survey impact rankings, accreditation of courses and professional membership for specific cohorts as well as being used for quality review and internal assessment of programmes. The survey data is used by the university to give statistical analysis of employability outcomes by school, college or discipline as required by the university.
Part of the survey also allow you the opportunity to give feedback on your experience at University of Galway which may also be shared with the relevant discipline.
