Graduate Survey

Thank you to everyone who took part in the most recent survey which was for those who graduated in 2024.

Each year almost half of all our graduates reply to the survey.
For example in 2024, over 2,700 replied, 91% of whom were working or studying.

We share this survey data that we collect from you with the Higher Education Authority (HEA) so they can perform their statutory functions under the Higher Education Authority Act, 1971.

The HEA uses this data for fact-based statistical analysis to help understand the real needs that higher education should meet, to promote equality of opportunity in higher education and to assist the government in developing future higher education policies and investment. The HEA use student records to produce anonymised aggregate data in annual statistical publications.

The results of this survey impact rankings, accreditation of courses and professional membership for specific cohorts as well as being used for quality review and internal assessment of programmes. The survey data is used by the university to give statistical analysis of employability outcomes by school, college or discipline as required and which may be used in recruitment campaigns (% employability and similar).
To enable this, Careers uses a PowerBI dashboard to securely share an overview of outcomes with course directors and other university colleagues, for example those involved in quality. 

Part of the survey also allow you the opportunity to give feedback on your experience at University of Galway which is also available on this dashboard, enabling course directors and others to act upon suggestions as appropriate. 

A simple dashboard has also been created to enable current students attending the university to explore outcomes with a particular degree or postgraduate. This dashboard shows 'top 10' job titles, employers, PG courses and colleges, along with other useful statistics such as the primary way graduates sourced their employment. Useful, real-world overview data to help current students with their career planning.  

Names and contact information associated with the survey are never shared. Contact information used during administration of the survey are not retained once the survey is completed (all 'working' data is retained for 1 year before being permanently deleted). Survey findings are retained indefinitely to allow yearly comparison data and trends.

The 2026 survey is open to all who finished a level 8, 9 or 10 degree in Ireland, in any HEI, during 2024.

This page is for graduates of University of Galway from any full time or part time programme leading to a degree, higher diploma, postgraduate diploma, masters or doctorate.

Please note:

• Anonymous replies cannot be processed. 
• If you graduated from another institute / university in Ireland, we cannot process your reply. Please see communications from that HEI instead. If you reply using the link above your details will not be retained or recorded in our survey. 
• If you graduated before 2025, or have not yet completed your studies at University of Galway, your details will not be recorded in our survey.
• If you took part in a previous survey, it is not possible to amend your reply - this survey is a representation of the situation at a moment in time (ie 31st March on that given year).
• We will attempt to phone/message those who have not responded to the survey in April-July.  
• You can opt out of the survey using the link in the email request.
