The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 2005 and the Safety Health and Welfare at Work (General Applications) Regulations, 2007 have many important implications for all University Managers and Employees in their roles to ensure the safety of University personnel in this workplace. 

A key requirement of the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 is that NUI Galway must prepare and regularly update its Safety Management Plan in a document known as a "Safety Statement".
