How to find the Local Windows Profile Name


  1. Right-click on the My Documents icon on your Desktop 

    Note: If there is no My Documents icon on the Desktop, then from the Start menu, select Documents and then right-click My Documents. Click Explore. A My Documents window appears. Right-click on My Documents (on the left hand side of the new window). 

  2. Click Properties 

  3. In the Target tab, the Target folder location contains your Local Windows Profile Name directly after C:Documents and Settings 
    In the example shown below, the Local Windows Profile Name is User
