Using the same method as on-campus, Students can access the following University IT Services using their Campus Account credentials:

Please note that a limited number of discipline-specific software may not be available from off-campus. In this case, you should liaise with your module and programme coordinators to understand what options or alternatives may be available.

Accessing on-campus only services remotely

The Client-based VPN is the recommended solution for students to access remote resources on the wired network: 

Client-based VPN

A client-based Virtual Private Network (VPN) service to allow users to access application services that are typically restricted to the University of Galway wired network. 

The following systems can be accessed using a client-based VPN:

  • Servers using non-RDP ports. For example, License servers, Linux machines (typically SSH), RDP to specific workstations.
  • Workstations and Servers using RDP. For example, to remotely connect to a Windows workstation or server.
