Web Editing Model

The University has an effective, ever-evolving, user-friendly website.

We aspire to continuously improve the website's efficacy by focusing on the 9 Ts (accessibility, availability, capability, discoverability, editability, quality, security, sustainability, and usability).

Web content accuracy is achieved through a devolved editing model, where individual units (i.e. groups / disciplines / schools / colleges / departments) take responsibility for their own web content, with technical support from ISS.

Direction & Governance

The ISS web team:

  • supports University staff, responsible for content in segments of the of the University's website.
  • facilitates each of the 9 Ts.
  • promotes adherence to best practice and standards.
  • ensures compliance with Irish and EU legal obligations, such as accessibility, e-privacy (cookies), and GDPR.
  • shields users from the complexities of modern web development / management by applying meticulous solution-focused strategies to an enterprise content management system.

The overall strategy and direction of the University website is decided by a Web Governance Group, whose members include Academics, Students, and representatives from Student Services, Marketing & Communications, ISS, Buildings & Estates, and the Content and Quality Offices.
