Guest Eduroam Wi-Fi

Information Solutions and Services recently introduced a new Guest Wi-Fi service that provides convenient, short-term access to Wi-Fi on campus for visiting individuals or groups.

Visitors can connect to the Eduroam Wi-Fi signal on campus for a 24-hour period by following a simple self-service process. By visiting https://www.universityofgalway.ie/guestwifi, guests can access the network in just three steps.

The service can provide Wi-Fi access to a group for conferences or events for a defined period without creating individual or shared accounts, simplifying managing Wi-Fi access for large events. Requests for group access to the service can be made to the ISS Service Desk. For conferences and other large events, delegates can be provided with their credentials in advance, and event organisers can specify the duration of the event so that the Wi-Fi credentials of each guest are valid for the entire duration of the event.

The service can also be used as a temporary Wi-Fi connection for staff and students while setting up their devices to connect to Eduroam permanently. Once connected to the Guest Wi-Fi, University of Galway users can download a configuration tool to set up a permanent Eduroam Wi-Fi connection. More information on how staff and students should set up their devices for the Eduroam WiFi service can be found on our Eduroam webpage
