School Self Evaluation - A data informed approach
Module Code: ED2105
Micro-credential Overview
The ambition of this micro-credential is to support teachers and school leaders in understanding how school self-evaluation (SSE) may be used as an effective means for school improvement. It will assist participants in understanding the rationale behind SSE and the core principals of using a datainformed approach to reflect on practices within their schools.
The micro-credential will assist participants in understanding how data-informed reflection and evaluation may be used to identify areas for improvement, and attention will be given to the development of the data literacy knowledge and skills required to access and use data within an SSE context. Issues of organisational change leadership which are fundamental to the successful execution of improvement plans will be addressed from a school perspective and the micro-credential will draw on organisational effectiveness research to identify how to set effective objectives and targets, and how to put in place and successfully implement plans for school improvement. Particular attention will be paid to SSE within the Irish context and participants will be supported in understanding that context and critiquing it, both at policy and school level. This micro-credential will also be very relevant to DEIS school planning and the stages and processes involved in that.
